WOODBURN, KY – The small community of Woodburn is coming to grips with the loss of Carl Bruce Vance, who passed away at the age of 73 on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date, allowing family and friends to honor his memory.
Bruce was a lifelong resident of Simpson County, born to the late Carl Marshall Vance and Hazel Gregory Vance. He made significant contributions to the local workforce, having retired from Bando USA. In addition, he held various roles throughout his career at well-known companies like Holley, Jerry’s, and the GM Corvette Plant.
A devoted member of Salmons General Baptist Church, Bruce was well-respected in his local church community. His faith was a source of strength and guidance throughout his life, and he often involved himself in church activities and events. He will be missed not only for his contributions at work but also for his involvement in the community.
Known for his love of classic cars and various collectibles, Bruce had a keen interest in items that showed craftsmanship and history. His passion for classic automobiles was well-known among friends and family, who often enjoyed sharing stories about the various vehicles he owned over the years.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Moseley Vance, who resides in Woodburn. The couple enjoyed many years together and shared a loving bond rooted in mutual respect and admiration.
He was also a proud father to two sons, Jeff Vance (with wife Linda) of Bowling Green and Cody Vance of Franklin. Bruce was a cherished grandfather to three grandchildren: Justin Vance (with wife Kelli), Josh Vance, and Lindsey Vance. Bruce was delighted to have two great-grandchildren, Darby and Kennedy, who brought joy into his life.
In addition to his immediate family, Bruce is survived by his sister, Nancy Travelstead (with husband Jerry) of Woodburn, as well as several in-laws including Robin Moseley, Teresa Russell (with husband Ron), and Carey Moseley (with wife Tammy). The extended family, friends, and community members are all uniting during this difficult time to offer their condolences and support to those he leaves behind.
As the weight of the news settles in, friends, family, and all who had the honor of knowing Bruce are reflecting on his character and the impact he made on their lives. The community has rallied to support the Vance family during this time of grief, recalling fond memories and celebrating a life full of love and achievement.
