Woodburn Community Mourns the Loss of Carl Bruce Vance
WOODBURN, KY – The town of Woodburn is in mourning following the passing of local resident Carl Bruce Vance, who died on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Vance was 73 years old and is remembered as a dedicated family man and community member.
A Life Well-Lived
Carl Bruce Vance was a native of Simpson County, born to the late Carl Marshall Vance and Hazel Gregory Vance. Throughout his life, he made a significant impact in both his workplace and community, enjoying a diverse career that included roles at Bando USA, the GM Corvette Plant, Holley, and Jerry’s. Bruce made his mark in the local industry with his hard work and commitment.
“He was a great guy and a hard worker,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. “He really cared about his family and community.”
Faith and Community Involvement
Vance was an active member of Salmons General Baptist Church, where he participated in various church activities and supported his fellow congregants. His faith played a central role in his life, and many found comfort in his presence and kindness.
A Passion for Collectibles
Besides his work and community involvement, Bruce had a strong passion for classic cars and collectibles. It was well-known among friends that he enjoyed attending car shows and sharing his fondness for vintage automobiles.
Family Matters Most
The heart of Bruce’s life was undoubtedly his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Moseley Vance, who was by his side throughout their marriage. Together, they raised two sons:
- Jeff Vance (Linda) of Bowling Green
- Cody Vance of Franklin
In addition to his sons, Bruce was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Justin Vance (Kelli), Josh Vance, and Lindsey Vance. He also cherished his two great-grandchildren, Darby and Kennedy, and enjoyed spending time with them whenever he could.
Support from Family
Bruce leaves behind a close-knit family, including his sister, Nancy Travelstead (Jerry) of Woodburn, along with his sisters-in-law, Robin Moseley and Teresa Russell (Ron), and his brother-in-law, Carey Moseley (Tammy). The love and support of his family were a constant source of strength throughout his life.
Community Remembers Bruce Vance
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date, allowing family and friends to come together to honor Bruce’s legacy and share their fond memories of him. The Woodburn community is coming to terms with the loss of a beloved figure who contributed greatly to his family, church, and community.
In a time of loss and sadness, Bruce’s family and friends are reminded of the impact he made in their lives and the love he shared. As they prepare to say farewell, many are reflecting on his spirit, kindness, and passion for life.
