WKU Volleyball Shines in Impressive Win Against LA Tech

Bowling Green, Ky. – What a thrilling weekend for WKU Volleyball fans! The Hilltoppers wrapped up their series against LA Tech with a resounding 3-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at Diddle Arena. With this powerful performance, the Tops not only secured the win but also showed why they remain a force to be reckoned with in Conference USA.

A Freshman Star Emerges

Freshman outside hitter Alivia Skidmore truly stole the spotlight during the match. With an impressive 19 total kills and a remarkable .643 hitting percentage, she paved the way for her team’s success. Her standout performance helped propel the Hilltoppers to a weekend sweep over the Bulldogs, improving their record to 17-6 overall and a stunning 10-0 in conference play.

Breaking Records

Saturday’s triumph marked another significant milestone for WKU Volleyball. The team has now achieved a staggering 84 consecutive regular season conference wins. This incredible feat reflects the hard work and dedication of the players and coaching staff, making WKU a formidable opponent on the court.

Set 1: 25-20

The opening set showcased the power of the Hilltoppers, led by Skidmore’s stellar performance. With a confident attitude, she recorded seven kills in this set alone, including the finishing shot that clinched the opening victory for WKU. The Tops took charge early on, setting the tone for the match ahead.

Set 2: 25-10

The second set was nothing short of spectacular for WKU. The Tops leaped ahead with a commanding 15-5 lead, and it was clear something special was happening. This time, Skidmore added another six kills to her tally, while teammate Gabby Weihe took charge by scoring three of the Tops’ last four points. The set was capped off with a service ace from Katie Howard, sealing a dominant win and bringing the set score to 25-10.

Set 3: 25-19

The final set continued in the same winning spirit, with a total of seven different Hilltoppers contributing to the scoreboard. Despite a tight match early on, with the score tied at 14-14, WKU escalated their game down the stretch, outscoring LA Tech 11-5 to secure their three-set sweep.

The excitement doesn’t stop here! The Hilltoppers will be taking to the road next, heading to El Paso, Texas, for a weekend series against another CUSA opponent, UTEP, on October 25-26.
