On top of all the excitement, the Lady Hilltoppers celebrated some notable achievements recently. The Conference USA announced its Softball Players of the Week, recognizing WKU with both Pitcher of the Week and Freshman of the Week accolades.
Leading the charge was Rylan Smith, a sophomore right-hander, whose stellar performance during the tournament earned him the Pitcher of the Week title. He tossed a jaw-dropping 10.2 innings while only allowing one earned run, which translates to an impressive 0.84 ERA. Adding to that, he recorded a team-high of nine strikeouts, making it tough for opponents as they managed only a .184 batting average against him.
Freshman utility player Macy Gregor also shone bright by clinching the Freshman of the Week recognition.
