Former WKU Professor Becomes Entrepreneur on ‘Beta Blox’ Reality Show

Bowling Green, KY- The journey of every successful entrepreneur is filled with many challenges and obstacles. Dr. Lauren McClain, a former professor at Western Kentucky University (WKU), is no different. She’s now the shining star in the entrepreneurial world and is featured on the reality T.V. Show “Beta Blox.”

Bucking the trend, Dr. Lauren McClain chose to step out of her comfort zone. She left her prestigious position at WKU to embark on an exciting and unpredictable entrepreneurial journey. With the constant support of her family and her business partner, she bet on herself. Today, she leads a successful business that works hard to amplify the voice and impact of other businesses and push them to do more good in the world.

Dream Became Reality

Losing her father 13 years ago, McClain said, “My dad always wanted to own a business but never got the chance. I now feel like I am living his dream.” It was her father’s unfulfilled dream that became one of the drives for her to change her life’s path.

Her business not only assists other businesses but also has a significant impact on the local communities that these businesses serve. For McClain, the amount of good that her business can do extends beyond its immediate operations.

A Change of World View

Having her life broadcast on a reality T.V show was far from expected. However, McClain feels that “this kind of work has an immediate, meaningful impact.” The limelight was not what drove her to make her move; instead, it was the potential for creating meaningful change.

As a professor, she firmly believed her ability to change the world was bound within the walls of her classroom. This new venture let her realize the multitude of ways one can impact the world positively. The change may come in different forms, but the goal to do good and change the world remains the same.
