WKU Football Welcomes New Talents: Mavericks and Mack!

Bowling Green, Kentucky, is buzzing with excitement as the Western Kentucky University (WKU) Football team officially announced the latest signings for their 2025 roster. And boy, do they have some exciting additions lined up! The newest members include the dynamic quarterback Maverick McIvor and the speedy wide receiver Jairus Mack. This new signing class has grown to a total of 25 players, with a healthy mix of 13 offensive talents to spice things up on the field.

Meet Maverick McIvor: The New General

Let’s start with the man behind the center—quarterback Maverick McIvor. Standing tall at 6’2” and tipping the scales at 210 pounds, McIvor brings a wealth of experience with him from Abilene Christian University (ACU). Having spent three seasons at ACU, he has racked up impressive stats that turn heads and raise eyebrows. Over his time at ACU, McIvor threw for an eye-popping 8,012 yards and found the end zone a whopping 63 times. While he had his share of interceptions, his performance overall has been extraordinary.

McIvor’s final season was nothing short of spectacular. In 2024 alone, he passed for 3,828 yards with 30 touchdowns, completing 312 out of 499 attempts. Not only that, but his game average was a staggering 294.5 yards per game! Leading ACU to capture the United Athletic Conference title, he also secured a spot in the FCS playoffs, marking a great season for the team.

His accolades didn’t go unnoticed either; McIvor earned Second Team All-American honors from FCS Football Central and made the All-UAC First Team. He shined in various categories, ranking fourth in total passing yards and fifth in passing yards per game, making him a player to watch. McIvor is no stranger to the college football scene; he previously started his career at Texas Tech but faced injury setbacks.

Jairus Mack: The New Target

Next up, we have the talented wide receiver, Jairus Mack. This redshirt senior stands at 5’10” and weighs in at 178 pounds. Mack makes his way to WKU after spending four seasons at Charlotte, where he proved to be an agile player on the field. Throughout his time at Charlotte, he appeared in 35 games, with 14 starts under his belt, tallying 51 receptions for almost 1,000 yards and scoring 3 touchdowns.

During his last season in 2024, Mack was a crucial target, making 19 catches for 418 yards. In 2023, he had an outstanding performance with 25 receptions for 453 yards and two touchdowns, ranking as second in the AAC for average yards per catch. Before that, he redshirted in 2022 and had a solid starting year in 2021, where he contributed significantly to the team’s efforts.

Mack’s days as a high school star were nothing short of remarkable as well. Coming out of Clarke Central High School in Georgia, he garnered the honors of Region 8-5A Player of the Year not once, but twice, collecting 2,769 receiving yards and scoring 29 touchdowns. It’s clear that both McIvor and Mack are ready to bring their skills to Bowling Green!

Building a Robust Roster

The 2025 signing class reflects WKU’s commitment to strength and depth on the field. With players coming from various states and different positions, these signings will undoubtedly enhance the team’s overall performance and competitiveness in the upcoming seasons. Fans can do nothing but look forward to seeing how these new talents will adjust to their new home and help WKU create more thrilling moments on the gridiron.

As the excitement brews and the new season approaches, one thing is for sure—WKU Football is gearing up to make some noise! We’re eager to see Maverick McIvor and Jairus Mack in action, and who knows what magic they might bring to the field!
