Western Kentucky University’s (WKU) Department of Theatre & Dance is geared up for an iconic celebration as it prepares to host the 50th anniversary of the annual dance event — ‘Evening of Dance.’ The much-awaited event is scheduled to be held at the Russell H. Miller Theatre from April 18 to April 21.
A grand spectacle awaits attendees as the four-night event will showcase performances across a wide range of dance genres including ballet, jazz, modern and tap. The celebration will also feature works choreographed by the WKU dance faculty and guest artists.
As part of its 50th-anniversary celebrations, WKU’s Department of Theatre & Dance is welcoming back its alumni in an intriguing way. A special finale video featuring alumni worldwide will be screened, alongside a pre-show reel starring archival footage. Further enhancing the commemorative spirit, an Alumni Dance Day will be held, inviting all former students for a unique opportunity to attend sample classes hosted by the current faculty.
The ‘Evening of Dance’ is a family-friendly event suitable for all ages. Attendees can look forward to performances set against a backdrop of classical and pop music, light-hearted themes, and an engaging atmosphere.
Tickets for the event are available for purchase at the Fine Arts Box Office. Regular tickets are priced at $16, while discounts are available for students and seniors at $12. The curtains will go up at 7:30 p.m. from Thursday through Saturday, with a special afternoon performance scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
As we gear up for this milestone event, we look forward to celebrating not only the incredible talent within our department but also the rich legacy of dance at WKU. We invite all audiences — students, alumni, families, and the broader community, to join us for an unforgettable ‘Evening of Dance.’
