Bowling Green, KY – The city just got a whole lot brighter for hundreds of kids, thanks to Barren River Area Safe Space, Inc. (better known as BRASS, Inc.), a local nonprofit with a heart of gold. They knew that getting kids equipped and eager for school was a big deal, so they put their hearts and effort into a recent program they cooked up and boy, has it paid off!
Friday saw the reveal of the amazing fruits of the Backpack Program, where the folks at BRASS pulled all stops to collect essential school supplies for kiddos under their wing. Get this, they managed to scrape up not one or two, but over 110 backpacks chock-full of all the stuff kids need for a successful school year. That’s a whole bunch of happy and prepared kids indeed!
In case you’re getting to know about BRASS Inc. for the first time, these guys are all about providing a safe escape for victims of domestic violence and their little ones from their tough situations. Their mission is to help these people move on and lead significantly better lives. BRASS is no small-time player either, every year they have around 120 children who call their shelter a safe haven.
But back to the Backpack Program. The fact they’ve managed to rake in such bountiful supplies is going to be a game-changer for these young ones. An opportunity to start the school year right, have the right tools, and not feel left behind their peers. Whoever said ‘[it takes a village to raise a child](https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/35036-it-takes-a-village-to-raise-a-child)’ sure knew what they were on about!
And before we forget, it’s important to know that inclusivity is being highly advocated across all schools. Everyone, regardless of their abilities, is accommodated, and equal opportunities given to all. It can’t get better than knowing your child is in an environment that cherishes and supports them wholeheartedly.
For those of you who fancy doing something good, you can also take part in helping out at BRASS Inc. We’re however not ending the good news just yet. Bowling Green is also upping its game security-wise. A new lot of flock cameras are on their way to strengthen the grip on vehicle tracking for law enforcement. Quite the upgrade wouldn’t you say?
But before you say this sounds like the kind of place where nothing ever happens, you’ll be glad to know this city isn’t just about all work and no play. The residents have been told to prepare for some thrilling action because the coveted Tri-Five Nationals are fast approaching the Beech Bend Raceway. Now if that doesn’t spell ‘excitement’, I don’t know what does!
To wrap it all up, it’s been quite a day – a celebration for the successful Backpack Program, anticipation for enhanced security, and echoes of engine roars in the near future. Bowling Green sure knows how to keep things interesting!
