Bowling Green Welcomes First Wawa Store

Bowling Green Welcomes First Wawa Store

Bowling Green is set to become home to the very first Wawa convenience store, marking an exciting move for the local scene. The new store will be situated on Hennessy Way, conveniently located near the National Corvette Museum and a planned apartment complex. The news comes as part of Wawa’s push towards expansion beyond its traditional East Coast roots.

Expansion Plans in Kentucky

Wawa is a well-known convenience store chain based in the Philadelphia area, and it has big plans for Kentucky in the coming years. The company aims to open as many as 40 stores across the state over the next decade. Last week, local real estate developer Andy Shultz of The KOIN Group confirmed that Wawa has chosen a site for its first store within the Bowling Green area.

This new location is part of a larger commercial growth along Hennessy Way, positioned favorably next to other establishments like McDonald’s and Starbucks. Shultz predicts that this area will see even more development in the future, including plans for a four-story extended-stay hotel.

Wawa’s Reputation and Offerings

Wawa recently earned the top spot in the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Convenience Store Study, showcasing its commitment to providing great service. The company scored an impressive 82 out of 100, outpacing competitors like QuikTrip, Buc-ee’s, and Murphy USA. This achievement highlights Wawa’s dedication to customer satisfaction and its relentless pursuit of quality in service.

The store is expected to be around 5,000 square feet and will include gas pumps. Wawa is known for its delicious food offerings, which range from hoagie sandwiches and breakfast items to burgers and a variety of sides. The company plans to invest approximately $7 million in the Bowling Green store, which will offer around 35 job opportunities when it opens its doors.

Location Details

Wawa has settled on a 2.5-acre site on Hennessy Way, adjacent to a 12.7-acre tract that is being converted into a new apartment community with 248 units. The area is experiencing rapid growth, and Wawa’s arrival is expected to add to the lively atmosphere. Shultz remarked, “I think this will be a really great spot for Wawa with all the activity in that area,” indicating strong confidence in the store’s potential.

Looking Ahead

Groundbreaking for the new Wawa store is anticipated to take place after the start of the new year. This move is seen as a significant step as Wawa stretches its wings into the midwest and south, expanding from its base of operations that includes over 1,060 stores across several states. As construction begins in Bowling Green, the excitement builds for both locals and visitors alike.

Final Thoughts

With its impressive reputation and array of food and service options, Wawa is bound to be a hit in Bowling Green. Residents are looking forward to the convenience and variety this new store will bring. As Wawa prepares to break ground, all eyes will be on Hennessy Way for the grand opening of this much-anticipated convenience store.
