Warren County Public Schools Set to Induct 12 Achievers into Distinguished Alumni Hall Next Month

WARREN COUNTY, Ky.

The Warren County Public Schools (WCPS) will this April induct 12 remarkable individuals into its Hall of Distinguished Alumni. The ceremony slated for Friday, April 12, will pay tribute to the outstanding contribution of the honorees to their various fields and the society at large.

The Honorees

The inductees vary in expertise, including academia, public administration, arts, public service, among others. Here are brief profiles of the individuals X:

Dr. TaKeia Anthony Wyatt

A celebrated academic, Wyatt made history as the first African American woman from Bowling Green to earn a Ph.D. A published author and renowned lecturer, Wyatt has to her credit numerous positions held and recognitions received, marking her as a distinguished academic achiever in the African American community.

Leyda M. Becker

A champion for diversity and inclusion, Becker has used her role as Bowling Green’s international communities coordinator to foster effective communication and relationships between the city and its international communities. Her initiative to support the city’s diverse demographic has won her worthy recognition in the community and beyond.

Allison Key Bemiss

A dedicated educator, community advocate, and a prolific author, Bemiss has become a household name in Warren County’s educational sector. Her passion for empowering students, coupled with her outstanding contribution to children’s literature, makes her a fitting candidate for the Hall of Distinguished Alumni.

Dan Edward Brawner

Pioneer in school art culture, Brawner has left a lasting legacy marked with artistic achievements that gave rise to nationwide emulation. His contribution to art and crafts spans painting, carving, to engraving, earning him enormous recognition locally and beyond.

Tyrone Dunn

The music industry and Warren County have Dunn to thank for two decades of excellent music performances. A product of Warren Central High School, Dunn has graced several music stages locally and abroad, making him one of the most sought-after musicians in the area.

Brenda Bunch Hale

A life of public service that spans over four decades, Hale’s career in Warren County’s government has seen her assume several administrative roles, making her one of the county’s most long-serving and dedicated public servants.

Eric W. Mercer

With a 25-year career in law enforcement, Mercer has become a notable figure in Warren County’s security landscape. His policing expertise cuts across different enforcement units, including the notable Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

Dr. Jeff Reynolds

A Christian minister with over two decades of practice, Reynolds has shown relentless dedication to faith-based teachings, imparting spiritual growth, and fostering community development.

Debbie Jones Richey

Over four decades in various roles within WCPS, Richey’s career in the educational sector paints a vivid picture of a lifelong commitment to advancing learning and promoting the administrative wellbeing of the school system.

Steve Riley

A distinguished teacher, coach, administrator, and legislator, Riley has served in various capacities within Warren County’s school system and legislature, acquiring an admirable track record of service to the community over the years.

Kim M. Thomas

In a career spanning 30 years, Thomas has not only carved a niche for herself in the banking sector but has also committed herself to community service, proving her leadership mettle at various community initiatives and programs.

Richard N. Wilson

Rising from a humble banking job to market president within Truist Bank, Wilson represents the face of resilience and dedication in Warren County. His philanthropic inclination and positive impact on the community have continually earned him a deserving place among local achievers.

The inductees were announced by WCPS, a clear indication of their untiring commitment to the progress of Warren County in Kentucky. The Hall of Distinguished Alumni event will take place at Sloan Convention Center, 1021 Wilkinson Trace, with the doors opening at 5 p.m. and the program/dinner kicking off at 6 p.m. The tickets, going for $35 each, can be purchased online.
