Warren County Public Schools Achieve Unprecedented Success

Bowling Green, KY– Last May marked a significant milestone in the history of the education sector, as Warren County Public Schools had one of its elementary schools, Natcher Elementary, named as the very first FranklinCovey Leader in Me Legacy School. The achievement was further solidified at the 2024 Leader in Me Symposium held on Monday, when Alvaton and Plano Elementary Schools also received the coveted title of Legacy Schools. This has now made the district the trailblazer with three Legacy Schools and 13 Lighthouse Schools, earning it an unprecedented distinction.

The Path to Excellence

Becoming a Legacy School isn’t an easy feat. These schools must have held the title of a Lighthouse School for a minimum of eight years, consistently demonstrating exceptional innovation, growth, and adherence to the strict Lighthouse criteria. They must also make continual invaluable contributions to the Leader in Me community. Describing the accolade, Sean Covey, the President of FranklinCovey Education, analogized, “If you get Lighthouse, you’re like a black belt in Leader in Me. Now Legacy is even above that. Legacy is like, Hall of Fame. These schools have made such an influence in their communities, they’ve achieved a standard that only 20 out of 7000 schools in the whole world have managed to reach.”

Warren County’s Commitment to Leadership

Superintendent Rob Clayton highlighted that fostering leadership among students has always been the central focus of Warren County Public Schools. He illustrated the school district’s aim by saying, “A day will come when our students will be impacting the world on their own. We want them to do it in an environment where they can collaborate with one another, help each other solve problems.”

Sean Covey lauded the district’s commitment to leadership that permeates both within and outside classrooms and sets it apart. “Warren County has a really progressive education system that collaborates with the workforce development sector to create something special. They aim to build students for the future, making this a great place where people want to come, build businesses, and reside permanently.”

The Role of the Wider Community

Superintendent Clayton expressed gratitude towards the local bodies and the wider community, stating their collaboration played an integral role in helping the district’s schools achieve these Leadership distinctions. “Our business and industry partners are very much in tune with what’s happening in our schools. They want to be a part of improving the educational outcomes for our students. They understand that it’s a win-win situation, beneficial not only for our students today but also for our community moving forward.”

Leader in Me Program

The Leader in Me is an exemplary program designed to nurture leadership skills in pre-k up to grade 12 students. It aims to empower students, families, and educators with the skills they need to excel in life.

Newest Lighthouse Schools Unveiled

During the 2024 Leader in Me Symposium, the district proudly announced its newest Lighthouse Schools— Bristow Elementary, Jennings Creek Elementary, and Jody Richards Elementary.
