Victory Hill to Develop a Community Cookbook

Victory Hill to Develop a Community Cookbook

In an effort to support community members in need, the Victory Hill Dream Center has developed a unique fundraising idea — a community cookbook. This project calls for recipes from locals that will be compiled into a cookbook to raise funds.

About the Victory Hill Cookbook Project

The Victory Hill Dream Center, a non-profit organization based in Scottsville, Kentucky, primarily supports those in the community facing physical and spiritual hardships. This includes children, the unhoused population, and people in addiction recovery. In order to fund their various programs, Victory Hill decided to create a community cookbook that reflects the tastes and traditions of the Scottsville area.

Share a Recipe and a Story

Each participant contributing to the cookbook is asked to submit their favorite recipe – a dish that holds a special place in their heart. Not only will each entry be a contribution towards a good cause, but each recipe will also be accompanied by a personal note or a memory. This gives an added touch of sentimentality to the cookbook, making it more than just a collection of recipes. Instead, it becomes a compilation of stories, traditions, and fond memories.

How to Participate

Victory Hill has made the process of partaking in this unique fundraising program quite simple. Interested participants are asked to email their recipe to the organization by July 31. Those needing more information regarding participation can visit the Victory Hill Dream Center’s Facebook page.

A Product-based Fundraising Approach

This community cookbook is envisioned as a product-based fundraiser – once completed, the books will be put up for sale, with all proceeds going to support the various projects that Victory Hill Dream Center are engaged in. As residents get to share a piece of their culinary expertise and personal stories, cookbook buyers will receive a unique insight into the community’s shared food culture and history.

A Nourishing Initiative

The community cookbook initiative not only instills a sense of unity and community spirit but also fuels an essential fundraising initiative. The funds raised will directly contribute to the ongoing work of Victory Hill, assisting those in need. It is a symbol of how the community can come together, contributing their personal stories and valuable recipes, to enrich and support their neighborhood’s underserved residents.

Lasting Impact of the Community Cookbook

The creation of a community cookbook has a far-reaching impact. It is a testament to Victory Hill’s creativity in meeting their fundraising needs while still engaging and inspiring their community. It models creativity in adversity, community involvement, and the importance of shared heritage. Above all, it is a message of hope – a way of saying that the struggle of one community member is a struggle for all, and that by joining hands, obstacles can be overcome.
