Exciting News from Bowling Green: The Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center is Coming Soon!

Bowling Green, KY, is buzzing with anticipation this week as Governor Andy Beshear has shared some fantastic news regarding the new Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center. This highly-anticipated facility is on track to open its doors in January 2025, and it’s set to bring a wealth of support and care to our brave veterans.

A State-of-the-Art Facility

With a significant investment of $53 million, the center will span an impressive 80,000 square feet. Designed specifically to offer skilled nursing care, this facility will cater exclusively to Kentucky’s veterans. Not only will it enhance healthcare access for those who have served, but it will also create approximately 120 new jobs in the area. Talk about a win-win situation!

Honoring a Veterans Advocate

The center is named in honor of the late Robert E. Spiller, a tireless advocate for veterans. Governor Beshear took a moment to reflect on the importance of supporting those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. “Our veterans are the best of us,” he stated, emphasizing the state’s commitment to continually fight for “opportunities, prosperity, and success for our veterans.”

Location and Facilities

Located at 1111 Veterans Way, the center will sit on an expansive 25 acres of land generously donated by the Inter-Modal Transportation Authority. This beautiful setting will not only provide a serene environment for healing but will also serve as a reminder of the community’s dedication to its veterans.

Impact on the Community

The opening of the Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center marks a significant milestone—it will be the first new veterans facility in the region in decades! It will join the ranks of other skilled nursing facilities across the state, which currently include locations in Radcliff, Hazard, Hanson, and Wilmore. This expansion is not just crucial but vital for ensuring that our veterans receive the care and respect they deserve.

Admittance and Contact Information

As the center gears up for its opening, it is expected to begin admitting veterans around March or April 2025. If you or someone you know is interested in admission, it’s easy to reach out for inquiries. Simply contact Monica Ruehling at (270) 352-6715 or drop her an email at Monica.Ruehling@ky.gov. The team is more than ready to provide assistance and answer any questions you might have regarding the new center!

Looking Ahead

The anticipation surrounding the Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center is undoubtedly building within Bowling Green and beyond. With the promise of exceptional care for our veterans and the positive economic impact it is expected to have on the community, there’s no denying that this facility is set to create a ripple effect of kindness and support for those who have served.

So, mark your calendars for January 2025! Bowling Green is excited to welcome this cutting-edge facility that honors our veterans and exemplifies the community’s commitment to their wellbeing!
