During the 2023 season, Stout showcased his undeniable talent on the field, earning a spot as one of the top defensive backs in Conference USA. His standout performance led to an impressive First Team All-CUSA selection, further solidifying his reputation as a defender to watch.
Over the course of the season, Stout accumulated a total of 52 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and a sack. Stout’s 2023 season featured some jaw-dropping moments, including an electrifying interception that he returned for a touchdown during a dominant 52-22 victory over Houston Christian. Moreover, he secured his second defensive touchdown of the season by recovering a fumble and sprinting 16 yards to the end zone against FIU on November 25. His performance at the Reese’s Senior Bowl also didn’t go unnoticed, as he was named the American Team Player of the Week during practice!
Before the 2023 season even began, Stout found himself on the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List, showcasing the expectations placed on him. His journey to WKU began when he transferred from North Texas prior to the 2022 season, and he made quite the splash right from the start. In his first game with the Hilltoppers, he returned an interception for a touchdown against Austin Peay, setting the tone for what would be a spectacular inaugural season where he recorded four interceptions and made 44 tackles, including eight in the New Orleans Bowl.
His remarkable debut earned him Freshman All-American Honorable Mention and a spot on the Conference USA Honorable Mention list. With a combination of skill, determination, and a flair for the dramatic, Stout has proven himself to be a player of great potential.
