Two People Facing Kidnapping Charges in Bowling Green
In Bowling Green, Kentucky, two individuals, named Michael White Jr., 28, and Ashley Glass, 33, have been charged and taken into custody following a kidnapping incident. The episode saw Bowling Green Police Department scrambling in response to witness reports of a person carrying a weapon on Monday.
Armed Kidnapping
According to the police citation, eye-witnesses identified the armed man as Michael White Jr., who was seen holding an unnamed victim at gunpoint in the back seat of a moving vehicle. Multiple locations around Bowling Green were visited as he drove around, refusing to let his captive exit the car.
The ordeal reportedly sparked from a disagreement over an alleged $4,000 debt owed by the victim to White and Glass, who was also present in the car as a passenger in the front seat. Heat escalated quickly when both White and Glass brandished handguns at the victim. The altercations turned physical when Glass reportedly hit the victim using her handgun, resulting in the loss of the victim’s multiple teeth.
Tense Stand-off
Eventually, the victim managed to escape when the vehicle stopped at an Apache Drive residence, at which location she admitted she had willingly spent time with White earlier. Here, the police located and detained White without issue. However, Glass barricaded herself inside the residence, exiting only after nearly thirty minutes.
Evidence Recovery
Following the owner’s consent to search the premises, multiple handguns were discovered inside the property alongside a white powder presumed to be cocaine. Glass confessed to both striking the victim and owning the cocaine. With a previous felony conviction, White was slapped with several charges, including kidnapping, wanton endangerment, and possession of a handgun as a convicted felon.
Glass, on the other hand, faces charges of kidnapping, wanton endangerment, assault, and illicit substance possession. The two are currently incarcerated in the Warren County Detention Center.
