Bowling Green Celebrates Record-Breaking Tourism Year

Kentucky Shatters Tourism Records for Second Consecutive Year

In an exciting announcement last Thursday, Kentucky Governor, Andy Beshear, revealed that for a second straight year, the state has shattered all tourism records. With over 79 million visitors, the Bluegrass State saw a staggering $14 billion in economic impact last year – largely due to a boom in tourism, a sector vital for its economy.

Record Tourism Spending in Bowling Green and Warren County

Cities like Bowling Green are witnessing this tourism boom firsthand, bringing in more revenue than ever before. According to Sherry Murphy, Executive Director of Bowling Green Convention Area & Visitors Bureau, visitors here in Warren County spent an impressive $477 million last year, a robust figure that marks a 7.9% increase from last year’s tourism spending.

Corvette Museum Leads Attraction

The National Corvette Museum, a primary tourist draw for Bowling Green, reported record visitor numbers recently, thanks to the celebration of Corvette’s milestone 70th anniversary in 2023. Thus, fueling an increase in tourism spending for the city. Expressing his optimism for an even more spectacular 2024, Ryan Eichler, the museum’s Director of Marketing and Communications, said, “It’s going to be the museum’s 30th anniversary this year. We are also welcoming more than 8,000 fans into our national caravan on Labor Day weekend. This event happens every five years, so we expect a huge influx of Corvette fans into Bowling Green.”

Other Key Attractions in Bowling Green

Attractions such as Lost River Cave, Chaney’s Dairy Barn, and Beech Bend Park also played their part in drawing in tourists, playing crucial roles in boosting Bowling Green’s appeal as a prime tourism destination.

Looking Ahead

With the unexpected tourism increase post-COVID, Bowling Green, Warren County, and the broader state of Kentucky have been uplifted to optimistically anticipate even greater numbers this year. The city and county’s noteworthy achievement stands out more so considering it ranks fifth among all Kentucky counties for tourism spending. A testament to the concerted community and governmental efforts to position Bowling Green as a key visitor attraction.
