Thunderfest Brings Electrifying Atmosphere to Ephram White Park

For the first time, the much-anticipated 53rd annual Thunderfest was held at Ephram White Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Moving to a Larger Venue

The festival, typically held at the Corvette Museum, was moved to Ephram White Park in an effort to accommodate the event’s anticipated growth. According to Whitney Kinslow, Co-Chair of the 2024 Thunderfest, this move was necessitated by an expected increase in the number of visitors and cars.

“We knew we needed a place capable of housing the anticipated turnout. Ensuring an appropriate launch area for fireworks, efficient traffic management, and enough space for approximately 20 food trucks required a larger venue. Ephram White seemed an ideal choice,” Kinslow explained.

Expectation Versus Reality

The move to a larger venue paid off, with the event witnessing an impressive turnout. The park’s expansive layout provided an excellent space for attendees to enjoy the fireworks and an array of vendors.

One family, recognized as The Awesome Lawsons on YouTube, noted the successful transition from the Corvette Museum to Ephram White Park. “It’s more spacious. With less of a walking distance and no uphill trudge, it seems to easily accommodate a larger number of vendors,” said the head of the family, Daniel Lawson.

Working Towards a Good Cause

Thunderfest not only offered fun and entertainment but was also committed to a good cause. The event’s proceeds were donated to the Kiwanis Club, a nonprofit organization engaged in various charitable works in the community. Kinslow estimated that between 5,000 to 6,000 guests attended Thunderfest, contributing significantly towards their charitable efforts.

Smooth Transition to a New Venue

Kinslow acknowledged the efforts behind the successful relocation of the event. “We are incredibly lucky. We have an exceptional committee for Thunderfest, a phenomenal Bowling Green Kiwanis Club, and genuinely supportive officials that made the transition smooth,” she said.

Despite the change of venue, some things remained consistent – the heat and the thrilling atmosphere that Thunderfest radiates every year. As the attendees rejoiced under the fireworks’ sparks, the Thunderfest at Ephram White Park marked its new chapter with a bang.
