Three Former Hilltoppers to Shine in the Hall of Distinguished Alumni

Exciting news for the Hilltoppers! A batch of remarkable former students is all set to enter the Hall of Distinguished Alumni (HODA). The award is the highest decorum offered by the university to its treasured alumni who have masterminded outstanding achievements post-university life.

The choice line-up comprises of three worth-knowing names – Al Cross, Joy Hamilton Marini, and David C. Wilson. They have not only contributed significantly to their areas of expertise, but also hold steadfast integrity and character.

These trailblazers have long been making their mark in our society and we’re excited to introduce them today!

Meet Al Cross

Al Cross, an esteemed journalist, dived into his passion while at the university. He mastered journalism despite initial hiccups and evolved in his career, while bringing the truth to the people.

Al brought home a Pulitzer Prize together with his newsroom team for their impressive coverage of a bus crash incident. Cross always believed in his father’s wisdom of pursuing knowledge or service till his last breath. Quoting him, “Always let your reach exceed your grasp”, echoes the University’s spirit perfectly.

Get to Know Joy Hamilton Marini

The dynamic Joy Hamilton Marini, now the Senior Director of Maternal Health for a multinational corporation, is ambitiously fighting to reduce maternal mortality. She leads several partnerships, and has even developed public-private initiatives, a notable one being “Born on Time”.

This initiative, executed in collaboration with Global Affairs Canada and three other countries, was designed to combat newborn deaths. Marini has dedicated her career to bettering healthcare facilities and providing relentless service to the community.

Discover David C. Wilson

David C. Wilson, a renowned political psychologist, is the Dean and professor at a prominent public policy school. He has authored several notable works and is closely examining the roots of political preferences among people and how they affect voter responses.

Wilson is revered for his various academic achievements and for his dedicated service in the U.S. Army Reserves. He not just strengthened the perception of political psychology among masses, but also embedded the principles of public administration in the communities he touched.
