Bowling Green Gets Ready for a Quirky Thanksgiving Event!

Bowling Green, KY – If you’re in the area and craving some holiday cheer, you’ll want to mark your calendars! This year, the beloved city of Bowling Green is putting a unique spin on a Thanksgiving classic. Forget the traditional turkey giveaway, because instead, they’re dropping Duncan Hines Day Ducks from the sky! That’s right, folks—on November 25th, prepare for some feathered fun as the community gathers at The Fringe for what promises to be a memorable and hilarious event.

A Twist on a Classic

You might remember the famous late ’70s TV sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati. The show had a legendary Thanksgiving episode where they hilariously dropped turkeys from a helicopter, causing absolute chaos. Inspired by that comedic moment, Telia Butler, the Downtown Development Coordinator, shared her excitement about this unique fundraiser. “We wanted to do a spoof on that and turn it into a fundraiser, a true community effort to say thank you,” she explained enthusiastically.

How It Works

So, how does this quirky event go down? Well, instead of aiming for turkeys, participants will buy a duck, each with the hope that it gets closest to the target when dropped from a designated height. The lucky duck that makes it to the bullseye will win a spectacular gift card from Houchins to help with Thanksgiving dinner! It’s a fun and lighthearted way to kick off the holiday season while supporting downtown initiatives.

Community Involvement

One of the best parts about this event is that it is truly a community effort. All funds raised during the event will go directly to supporting downtown events, helping to ensure that Bowling Green remains vibrant and lively throughout the year. “This is the first of its kind, but we’ll definitely be doing it again in the future,” Butler mentioned, making it clear that the city plans on creating a new annual tradition that residents can look forward to every year.

Join the Fun!

So, if you’re looking for a creative, entertaining way to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, make sure to grab your very own Duncan Hines Day Duck. You can participate in the event and guarantee your own slice of humor amidst the holiday hustle and bustle. It’s a perfect opportunity to gather friends and family, laugh, and enjoy some good old-fashioned fun.

Get Your Ducks In a Row

If this sounds like something you’d like to take part in, head over to the designated event website to secure your duck and join in on the festivities. Don’t miss out on a chance to be part of this fun-loving community and maybe walk away with a free Thanksgiving dinner!

As the holidays approach, it’s events like these that remind us of the joy and camaraderie that comes with such festive occasions. So, grab your friends, embrace the silliness, and let’s all get ready to watch some ducks fly!

Mark your calendars—November 25th is going to be a quack-tastic day in Bowling Green!
