Bowling Green Mourns the Loss of Terry Lynn Gentry
Bowling Green is in mourning following the passing of Terry Lynn Gentry, who died on October 12, 2024, at the age of 60. A native of Bowling Green, Terry touched many lives during her time here and will be remembered fondly by her family, friends, and community.
A Life Remembered
Terry was born on August 31, 1964, to Charles Gentry, who has passed, and Linda Wemes, who survives her. Family meant everything to Terry, and she devoted her life to caring for those she loved. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Lee ‘Deno’ Gentry, her nephew, Kenneth Wayne Gentry, Jr., and her step-father, Claude Roddy, Jr.
Community Connections
A member of the Iva Baptist Church, Terry was deeply involved in her faith community. Her spiritual mentor and friend was Pastor Terry Joe Wilson, who provided guidance and support throughout her life. Many will remember her for her kindness and her involvement in church activities that brought people together.
Passions and Hobbies
Terry had a passion for crafting, which allowed her creativity to shine. Whether it was making handmade gifts for family or creating beautiful decor for her home, her artistic flair was evident in everything she touched. She also had a fondness for animals, displaying a nurturing spirit both toward pets and wildlife alike.
Family Connections
Surviving Terry are her two daughters, Ashley Cross (who is married to Jarell Lewis) and Samantha Johnson (who is married to John), both of whom live in Bowling Green. Her legacy continues with her grandchildren: Aubrie Cross, Austin Cross, Devin Lewis, Eva White, Kaylee Johnson, and Karson ‘Bear’ Johnson. She cherished every moment spent with her family and was a constant source of love and support for her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her immediate family, Terry is survived by her siblings, Kenneth W. Gentry, Sr., and her nephew, Charles Edward Gentry. Her warmth and joy came not only from family, but also from her beloved pet cat, Smoky, who was a source of happiness in her life.
Funeral Arrangements
For those wishing to pay their respects, funeral services for Terry Lynn Gentry will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. and again on the morning of the service starting at 9 a.m. Interment will follow the service at the Green River Union Cemetery.
