Great Teddy Bear Run Fills Streets with Excitement and Meaning

In the heart of Bowling Green, Kentucky, hundreds of teddy bears adorned the city streets as they traveled with their motorcyclist partners on the 4th annual Great Teddy Bear Run. This heartwarming event was presented by the esteemed Barren River Child Advocacy Center.

An Early Start with Anticipation in the Air

The action started bright and early at the Warren County Justice Center, where swarms of eager motorcyclists gathered to register. With delicious food trucks and energetic music lingering in the atmosphere, the excitement of the participants and spectators was palpable. For pre-registered riders, the cost of participation was $35, while if they brought along a passenger, the contribution increased to $55.

The Much-Awaited Kickstands Up Moment

As the clock struck 11 a.m., the riders prepared themselves for this monumental journey. They secured their furry companions and raised their kickstands, marking the beginning of the ride. The caravan of riders began their journey at the Justice Center and embarked on a 13.1-mile ride to the Harley Davidson store. On arrival at the Harley Davidson store, they were met with cheers by dozens of onlookers gathered to welcome them.

An Eventful End at the Harley Davidson Store

Upon their triumphant arrival at the Harley Davidson Store, there was more to be enjoyed. More food trucks, music and tents for families to browse were readily available. The feeling of exhilaration was all around as they concluded their ride.

The Significant Growth of the Event

According to Leah Thompson, the executive director of the Great Teddy Bear Run, “We typically have between 500 to 600 riders come out. When they start their engines, you can literally feel the vibration and the significance of the moment.” Over the years, the event has seen exponential growth from its humble beginnings of just a few hundred participants.

More Than Just a Decoration

One avid participant, Alicia Goode, explained that the teddy bears carried by the bikers held a deeper meaning than just being motorcycle accessories. At the end of the ride, these teddy bears were donated to the Barren River Child Advocacy Center and given to children in need.

A Grand Fundraising Event for BRACAC

The Teddy Bear Run, being one of the center’s major fundraising events, raises funds for the valuable services offered by the Barren River Child Advocacy Center. The center works tirelessly to provide indispensable services to children who have experienced sexual abuse and/or assault.

With the success of this year’s ride, hopes are high for the event to continue to grow and attract more bikers to participate. Each year brings a newfound enthusiasm, owing to the noble cause that the ride supports. The Barren River Child Advocacy Center extends its heartfelt gratitude to each participant and attendee of the Great Teddy Bear Run, knowing that every contribution goes a long way to bring a smile to a child’s face.
