Bowling Green, Ky. – A local man has been arrested following a theft investigation involving a stolen 2018 white GMC 3500 Dually. The incident unfolded Wednesday evening when deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a theft on Rockfield Browning Road.
According to reports, deputies were dispatched to the area after receiving the theft complaint. Upon arrival, they collected details regarding the stolen vehicle and began canvassing the neighborhood for any clues or signs of the truck.
During their search, officers located the stolen GMC parked unoccupied at a nearby trailer park located at 9279 Russellville Road. This finding provided a crucial lead in the case as deputies worked to piece together what had happened.
While investigating the scene, something unusual happened. A Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled up, and upon seeing the deputies, the driver quickly reversed the vehicle and attempted to flee the area. This action drew the attention of the officers on the scene.
As deputies pursued the Jeep on foot, two individuals exited the vehicle and made a run for it. The deputies managed to apprehend one of the suspects, a 44-year-old man named David Cherry from Bowling Green, after a brief chase. The second suspect, however, managed to escape and has yet to be identified or caught.
While searching the Jeep, deputies discovered several items that were taken from the stolen GMC truck. Among the stolen goods was a shotgun, which remains missing at this time. Authorities are continuing to investigate the situation to recover the firearm and gather more evidence.
Following his arrest, Cherry was taken to the Warren County Regional Jail. He faces serious charges, including receiving stolen property valued at $10,000 or more, second-degree fleeing or evading police, and resisting arrest. He is currently being held on a $6,000 cash bond.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with law enforcement looking to identify the second suspect who fled and determine the full circumstances surrounding the theft. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case or the whereabouts of the second suspect to come forward.
This event highlights ongoing issues related to vehicle thefts in the area. As the Warren County Sheriff’s Office continues its efforts to combat this crime, community members are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
Local residents can be assured that law enforcement is actively working to keep Bowling Green safe and secure from similar incidents in the future.
