Smiths Grove Man Arrested for Theft of Vehicle and Lawn mower in Edmonson County

In a recent development from Smiths Grove, a 33-year-old man named Cody Browning faces numerous theft-related charges. According to a uniform citation, Browning was arrested on the grounds of reportedly possessing a stolen Dodge pickup truck and a lawn mower.

Reported Theft and Discovery of Stolen Items

Both the vehicle and the lawn mower were reported to the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Department as stolen. Upon further inquiry and investigation, it was found that Browning had provided false information about the stolen items. Additionally, he had tried to mislead the authorities regarding the last time he had used both items.

The lawn mower reportedly traced to the 400 block of Chalybeate Road in Brownsville, Kentucky.

Drugs and Paraphernalia Discovery

Further examination of the situation led to further alarming discoveries – anabolic steroids, needles, marijuana and additional drug-related paraphernalia were found in the middle seat of the stolen truck.

False Information and Arrest Warrant

Moreover, Browning is also alleged to have provided false information about a female individual who was present during the time officers arrived to investigate. The sheriff’s department later found out that the woman had an active arrest warrant.

Charges brought against Cody Browning

Browning has been hit with a multitude of charges. These include theft by unlawful taking or disposition in two different categories: one between $1,000 and $10,000 and the other between $10,000 and $1,000,000, second-degree possession of a controlled substance – anabolic steroids, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension.

This incident is a timely signal of the ongoing issue of theft and drug-related crimes in the area, highlighting the importance of effective law enforcement actions and policies.
