Bowling Green, KY – The community is mourning the loss of Ruth Ann Raines Carlo, who passed away on Monday, October 23, at 6:05 am at Signature Health Care of Bowling Green. She was 85 years old. Ruth’s family and friends remember her for her warmth and devotion to her loved ones.
Ruth was born in Simpson County, Kentucky, to the late James Oscar and Charlene Marie Galloway Raines. She was married to William F. Carlo, who preceded her in death. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother, who took great pride in her family.
Ruth leaves behind her daughters, Lajuana Carlo and Lavonda Lynn Grogan, both residing in Bowling Green. Her grandchildren include Brittany Haynes and Joni Copsy, also of Bowling Green, along with Chad Church who lives in Elizabeth City, N.C.. Additionally, Ruth is survived by her 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, who will carry on her memory.
Ruth was also preceded in death by her grandson, James Greer, as well as her niece, Kami Ramsey. She was closely connected to her siblings, including Elouise Gugel, Janice Harrison, and Alice Williams, and had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, along with cousins who cherished her presence.
A longtime member of the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, Ruth was known for her active participation in church activities and support for her fellow congregation members. Many will remember her as a kind and loving individual who enjoyed lending a helping hand.
Ruth had a fulfilling career, working as an office clerk at FMC and later as a switchboard operator for South Central Bell. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were recognized by her peers during her time in the workforce.
Aside from her professional life, Ruth had a special affection for animals. This love was a significant part of her character, reflecting her nurturing spirit. Her family often shared stories about her pets and the joy they brought into her life.
Visitation for Ruth will be held on Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel, followed by a funeral service starting at 1:00 pm. The burial will take place afterward at Old Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
The loss of Ruth has left a void in the hearts of those who knew her. Friends, family, and community members are rallying together to offer condolences and share memories of a remarkable woman who made an impact in the lives of many.
As they gather to honor her life, Ruth Ann Raines Carlo will be remembered for her unwavering love, supportive nature, and the lasting legacy she leaves behind in Bowling Green and beyond.
