The eagerly anticipated Russell Sims Aquatic Center will open its doors on time for the summer season, despite an untimely closure last year owing to critical maintenance issues. A significant crack adjacent to the pool necessitated the early shutdown, however, much-needed repairs are now complete and final preparations are underway as we approach the summer season.
As the season looms, park staff assure us that additional preparations will be completed in the subsequent weeks, with the center set to open without delay on Memorial Day.
“We pride ourselves in providing a facility that enhances the quality of life for the local community. Our commitment each summer is to have the Russell Sims Aquatic Center at its best. However, considering it was established in 2000, and now entering its 25th season, we anticipate the need for regular upkeep and improvements,” said Cameron Levis, Recreation Division Manager for the City of Bowling Green.
Ahead of its much-awaited opening, the aquatic center is currently recruiting staff for the summer. This year promises to be an exciting one for the community, with the aquatic center marking its 25th season.
The Russell Sims Aquatic Center has evolved significantly since its establishment in 2000, with regular upgrades and maintenance undertaken to ensure it remains a leading community facility. The unexpected closure last summer ignited concern among regular patrons, yet staff assure us that such instances of maintenance are routine and necessary in a facility of this age.
As the countdown to Memorial Day begins, residents are eagerly awaiting the reopening of the beloved aquatic center. The park’s management has given their assurance for a safe and exciting season, promising patrons that 2024 will be a summer to remember at the Russell Sims Aquatic Center.
