BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The excitement is palpable in this small Kentucky town as local talent Rowdy Shea has stepped into the spotlight as a contestant on NBC’s popular singing competition, “The Voice.” Shea’s journey began with a whirlwind experience that he describes as both exhilarating and humbling.
In a recent interview, Shea shared his feelings about participating in the show, saying, “It’s been a lot going on, but I’m blessed and super excited that it’s all happening.” His episode showcased his impressive vocal ability, leading to not one but two chair turns from the celebrity judges, a feat that many contestants strive for.
Reflecting on his time on the show, he expressed gratitude for the production team and his fellow contestants, stating, “Everyone there knows exactly what they’re doing, and they put us in the best light to showcase us as artists.” Shea spoke warmly about the collaborative atmosphere, noting it was a “blessing to work with such talented people.”
Rowdy Shea is a proud product of Bowling Green, having grown up in the area and attended South Warren High School. He fondly reminisced about his past, particularly his achievements on the football field, winning two state titles under the guidance of Coach Smith. “We had the quintessential upbringing in Bowling Green, and we’re proud to be from here.”
Shea’s musical journey began later in life, around the age of 20. Encouraged by his mother, he decided to pursue music after a pivotal experience in which she urged him to “pick something and go for it.” Following vocal lessons, he quickly fell in love with singing and picked up the guitar, igniting a passion that has brought him to where he stands today.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Shea recently celebrated his marriage. His wife has been a source of encouragement throughout his journey and even joined him on stage during his performance on “The Voice.” The couple decided to choose Gwen Stefani as his coach, largely influenced by her Oklahoma roots and connections to country music artist Blake Shelton. Shea said, “She was ecstatic.” He added that “Gwen is new to Oklahoma but has that fiery attitude just like the rest of the Oklahomans.”
As Shea moves forward in “The Voice,” he is focused on preparing for the upcoming battle rounds while also seeking more performance opportunities to advance his music career. His personal goal is clear: “My goal is to become a touring artist, and I’m determined to reach that.”
For those in Bowling Green who dream of a music career, Shea has a powerful message: “Just do it. Whatever’s on your mind, go for it.” He emphasizes the importance of faith, advising aspiring artists to “keep God at the forefront of your heart and mind.” He encourages everyone to keep moving forward, stating, “Everything’s okay; nothing’s falling apart.”
As Shea’s journey on “The Voice” continues, he has the unwavering support of the Bowling Green community. Local fans are eager to see how he will navigate the challenges of the competition and showcase his talent on a national stage. You can catch him on “The Voice” airing Monday nights at 7 p.m.
