Feed the Need Rallying Community Support to Aid Local Families

Bowling Green, KY – United Way’s food drive, known as Feed the Need, gathered community members for a noble purpose, to pitch in and help families battling food insecurities in southern Kentucky. The initiative, created in light of the increased demand for basic needs, continues to collect donations that directly benefit local food banks.

General Hunger Alleviation Drive Explained

Feed the Need, a concerted effort by the United Way of Southern Kentucky, seeks to accept food donations at various locations to help mitigate food insecurity. The approach ensures that the donations directly assist the county’s families where the contribution is made. For instance, if you donate in Allen County, it specifically targets to assist an Allen County family.

The food requirements across southern Kentucky are significant, and every single contribution counts. Figures from Feeding America reveal that about 18% of families in the area grapple with food insufficiencies, with many more on the brink of the distressing reality. As such, the annual Feed the Need program greatly benefits numerous nonprofits, and as expressed by Tim Allen of the SOKY Patriots, people are appealed to donate whatever they can to the cause.

Where to Donate

To take part in this initiative, individuals can make their contributions at the following locations on Saturday:

  • Allen County Save-A-Lot at 1407 Old Gallatin Road in Scottsville.
  • Barren County Houchens Southgate at 619 S L Rogers Wells Blvd in Glasgow.
  • Houchens Happy Valley at 425 Happy Valley Rd in Glasgow.

Simpson County Priceless IGA at 1350 Harding Road in Franklin.

Piggly Wiggly at 402 N. Main Street in Franklin.

Priceless IGA – Louisville Road at 3170 Louisville Rd in Bowling Green.

Crossroads IGA – Mt. Victor at 2560 Mount Victor Ln in Bowling Green.

Connecting Community Efforts
