The city of Bowling Green, KY is preparing to make history as it hosts the inaugural “Raise the Roof” Charity Dinner. The Dinner, scheduled for June 27 at the Sloan Convention Center will benefit the Down Syndrome of Southern Kentucky (DSSKY) organization. The organization has announced a capital campaign aimed at raising funds for a new Buddy House due to increased growth over the past decade.
Organizers are thrilled to feature 2007 Heisman Trophy winner and New York Times Best-Selling Author, Tim Tebow as the keynote speaker of the event. Apart from his successful football career, which saw him winning two National Football championships and his selection as a first-round player for the Denver Broncos, Tebow’s unparalleled work for the Down syndrome community has been admirable and commendable.
The landmark event will showcase a meet and greet for a select number of VIP guests, a silent auction, and a live auction in addition to an entertaining and insightful speech by Tim Tebow. Featured items for auction include a Tim Tebow autographed helmet, boxing trunks signed by Muhammad Ali, a bat signed by Hank Aaron, and a Toby Keith autographed guitar.
Tickets for the groundbreaking event are available for purchase online with options to buy an entire table of ten seats, individual tickets, or special meet and greet passes. Due to the high anticipation of the event, tickets are expected to sell out soon, thereby proponents are encouraged to make purchases sooner rather than later.
By raising funds for a new Buddy House, the “Raise the Roof” Charity Dinner will extend DSSKY’s much-needed support to additional families affected by Down syndrome across the 14 counties it currently serves in southern Kentucky, making this event pivotal in the organization’s history.
The Buddy House is a prominent facility within the DSSKY that provides a myriad of services to individuals affected by Down syndrome, their families and their friends. Activities organized in the Buddy House are centered around education, social and life skills development, physical fitness, and creative expression.
The “Raise the Roof” Charity Dinner could not have been conceptualized without the steadfast support of the Bowling Green Community, Houchens Food Group, Sloan Convention Center, and many other individuals and businesses dedicated to seeing the vision of a larger DSSKY network come to fruition. Their advocacy for those affected by Down syndrome is a testament to the spirit of unity and resilience within Bowling Green, KY.
