Bowling Green Resident Seeks Answers After Beloved Pet’s Tragic Death at Grooming Center

A heartbreaking incident occurred recently in Bowling Green, Kentucky that has left a local resident, Caleigh Lundy, desperately seeking answers and pleading for justice. Her dog, a five-and-a-half-year-old chow chow named Wednesday, allegedly died after a grooming session at a local Petco, a well-known pet supplies and services retailer.

Account from a Grieving Pet Owner

On April 17, Lundy dropped Wednesday off for a routine grooming session at the Petco establishment. A few hours later, she received a distressing phone call informing her that Wednesday had collapsed on the table. The dog had been moved to Three Springs Animal Hospital but, tragically, she was declared dead upon arrival.

Lundy expressed her shock at the tragic turn of events, saying, “Her body was so hard.” She also revealed an invoice from Three Springs Animal Hospital, marking heat stroke as a possible cause of death.

Lundy faced further frustration when her requests for surveillance footage from Petco were declined. She was informed by the company that the footage is their property and could not be released. In addition, she was told an employee who had failed to follow procedures during Wednesday’s grooming had been fired, but no further details were disclosed.

Search for Justice

Distressed and feeling hopeless, Lundy is tirelessly seeking answers about the circumstances of her beloved dog’s passing. She has decided to reject a settlement offer from Petco which included a gag clause preventing her from discussing the incident on social media.

Lundy remarked, “I’m not just trying to defile their name, I just want something good to come of it. I want there to be justice.”

In response to the allegations made by Lundy, Petco forwarded a statement about the occurrence. It acknowledged its failure in adhering to set protocols that led to an unfortunate outcome, extending deep sympathies to the grieving owner and assuring that all of Wednesday’s veterinary expenses would be covered.

Community Galvanizes to Support Lundy

Lundy and other Bowling Green residents started a GoFundMe fundraiser with the intent to “get a lawyer to fight Petco for what they did to my angel, so I can have the truth of what happened…” The community is rallying behind her, hoping to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.

This tragic incident serves as a wake-up call for pet owners everywhere to be extra cautious while seeking professional services for their pets. Lundy’s determination to find answers – and justice – for Wednesday continues, and her tragic loss serves as a sobering reminder to us all.
