Bowling Green witnessed quite a surprising event this past Friday afternoon. Things got dicey around 2 p.m. when a 19-year-old lad suddenly found himself on the wrong end of an intersection, running right into an emergency vehicle. The vehicle, a fire truck towing a boat trailer, was hot-footing it to a possible water rescue when the incident occurred.
The crux of the matter happened at the intersection of Nashville Road and Campbell Lane, where the young pedestrian crossed right in front of the rushing emergency vehicle. The fire truck couldn’t have averted the accident and ended up hitting the young lad.
But hey, don’t go worrying too much! The young man is fine and is currently being treated at a local hospital. He has sustained minor injuries and seems to be in a stable condition. After the accident, reports have it that he even managed to get up and walk away from the scene before asking for medical help.
According to a word from the local Fire Department, when our young pedestrian ran into the side of the emergency vehicle, the unit was responding to a potential water rescue. The truck, heading to the scene, didn’t see that coming. It was in the middle of clearing an intersection when the accident occurred.
Fortunately, this mishap didn’t result in any serious injuries or worse. The guy kuodos to him, got up and walked away from the scene, later seeking medical assistance on his own. As per the latest info, he’s now being treated at a local hospital.
Hopefully, our young pedestrian has learned an important lesson about road safety from this incident. Even in quiet towns like Bowling Green, accidents can happen in a snap and they often do when we least expect them. So, let’s all do our part – take care of ourselves and watch out for each other when we’re out and about.
