Bowling Green, Ky. — Big things are happening right here in our community! The buzz is all about the upcoming Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center, which Governor Andy Beshear announced is nearly finished and set to officially open its doors in January 2025. This exciting $53 million development will stretch over a whopping 80,000 square feet, delivering much-needed skilled nursing care specifically for Kentucky’s veterans.
As we get ready to welcome this incredible facility, it’s heartwarming to note that it’s named after the late Robert E. Spiller, a dedicated advocate for veterans. Governor Beshear shared some touching words, emphasizing just how much our veterans mean to us. He said, “Our veterans are the best of us.” It’s clear the state is committed to ensuring that those who served our country receive the support and services they deserve.
So, what’s in store for our veterans at the Spiller Center? Well, first and foremost, this will be the first new veterans facility in our region in decades, which is a huge milestone! With the capacity to provide skilled nursing care, the center will be both a haven and a healthcare resource for those who’ve worn the uniform.
Once it opens, it’s expected to create about 120 new jobs, positively impacting our local economy. Isn’t that fantastic? Employment opportunities not only mean jobs for the community but also ensure that the center will be well-staffed with the right professionals ready to offer top-notch care.
For those wondering where to find this new facility, it will be located at 1111 Veterans Way in Bowling Green. The site sits on 25 acres that were generously donated by the Inter-Modal Transportation Authority. It’s a prime spot that’s sure to be welcoming for visiting veterans and their families.
Now, here’s the million-dollar question: when can veterans start using the center? While the official opening is in January 2025, the center will begin admitting veterans a couple of months later, in March or April 2025. So, it’s just around the corner! If you are a veteran or know someone who is, this will be a great opportunity for them to receive the specialized care they’ve earned.
If you want to learn more about admissions, you can get in touch with Monica Ruehling by calling (270) 352-6715 or by sending an email to Monica.Ruehling@ky.gov. The staff is ready and willing to help with any questions you might have!
The opening of the Robert E. Spiller Veterans Center is more than just a new building; it signifies a brighter future for veterans in Kentucky. With this facility, the state is stepping up to provide the care and facilities that those who served our country rightly deserve. As Governor Beshear put it, the fight for opportunities, prosperity, and success for our veterans will continue. And we couldn’t agree more!
Stay tuned for more fantastic updates as we get closer to the grand opening. It’s an exciting time here in Bowling Green, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact the Spiller Veterans Center will make in the lives of our local heroes!
