Setting the scene of yet another horrific road accident, Bowling Green, Kentucky, was witness to a significant motorcycle collision last weekend. The accident, involving a 2004 Honda motorcycle and a trailer-hauling 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, took place around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday.
According to the accident report, the incident transpired at the intersection of Scottsville Road and Ashley Circle. The operator of the Chevrolet Silverado, also towing a trailer, was stationed in the left-turn lane, intending to move onto Ashley Circle. Despite the flashing yellow arrow warning on the intersection sign, the driver proceeded to execute a left turn, claiming to have had “plenty of time to make the turn”.
At this point, the Chevrolet came into collision with the Honda motorcycle, operated by 21-year-old Bowling Green resident Dameon Price. The impact sent Price airborne, according to witnesses, and inflicted life-threatening injuries. Despite the immediate response of emergency services, the extent of his injuries mandated a medevac; he was subsequently flown from the EMS headquarters to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. His exact condition at this time is still unreleased.
The witnesses attested that Price was undoubtedly travelling at high speed at the time of the collision, bringing into question the possibilities of reckless driving. According to the witnesses, the airborne nature of the accident was a clear indication of the speed at which Price was traveling when the collision occurred.
The investigation into the accident by local police authorities is still ongoing. So far, no official statements have been made as to what may have led to this unfortunate event or whether there may have been any violations of traffic laws from either side.
As of this time, the police have not released any charges in relation to the collision. They continue to urge anyone with additional information about the incident to contact them. This crash serves as yet another reminder of the importance of caution and adherence to traffic signals while on the road to ensure personal safety and that of others.
