Med Center Health Launches Groundbreaking High Street Tower on Bowling Green Campus

Bowling Green, KY- A new landscape in healthcare is soon to rise as Med Center Health gears to break ground on the High Street Tower, a five-story patient care tower on its Bowling Green campus on Thursday, June 13 at 11 a.m.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Highlights New Healthcare Space

In partnership with the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, a groundbreaking ceremony hosted by Med Center Health will take place at the greenspace by The Medical Center’s Emergency Department parking lot located at High Street and E. Fourth Avenue.

High Street Tower: The Healthcare Beacon

High Street Tower promises to be a beacon for healthcare services in Kentucky. It will house Women & Children’s Services at Med Center Health, one of the most extensive obstetrics units in the state. Two specifically dedicated floors will provide expanded facilities for ante-partum, labor and delivery, cesarean suites, post-partum, and even an emergency department exclusively for obstetrical patients.

The Tower will also be home to the region’s only Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), which provides the highest level of care for newborns. Unclaimed floors in the building will provide room for subsequent expansion of the emergency department, surgery, endoscopy and other medical and surgical amenities.

The Anticipated Impact on Healthcare

According to Connie Smith, president and CEO of Med Center Health, “The new tower will offer an amazing environment for our mothers and babies, while also creating space to serve the future healthcare needs of our growing communities for years to come.” This development is expected to set the bar high for healthcare and patient services in Southcentral Kentucky.

The Historical Connection

The High Street Tower will be constructed steps away from the former High Street School, an historical landmark within Bowling Green. The completion of the project, scheduled for summer 2026, coincides with Med Center Health’s centennial celebration, marking a century since its mother unit, City Hospital launched operations on hospital hill.
