In a recent incident in Bowling Green, Kentucky, a man was apprehended and charged with driving under the influence at a local McDonald’s on Saturday. Local law enforcement received a call leading them to the fast food outlet located on 1925 Russellville Road. The call was regarding a welfare check pertaining to an individual identified as a 25-year-old Hunter Arnett from Frankfort, Kentucky.
Upon their arrival, the officers found Arnett reportedly slumped over in his car’s driver seat. The vehicle was found to be on with its keys in the ignition. The alarmed caller revealed that Arnett had been in that state at the location for approximately 15 minutes.
Authorities stated that, as Arnett regained consciousness, he was reportedly exhibiting slurred speech. Furthermore, an opened bottle of an alcoholic drink—New Amsterdam—was discovered in the vehicle’s cup holder; around a third of the bottle was found to be empty.
Upon being apprehended, Arnett seemed to resist the arrest. He further roused the ire of the law enforcement and medical staff by reportedly directing profanities at them and making threats.
This is not the first time Arnett has faced legal trouble for operating a motor vehicle under the influence. His reckless behaviour is reportedly a pattern, with driving under the influence charges filed against him on January 23, 2020, and December 21, 2019. The citations further revealed that Arnett had been convicted of both these crimes in February 2020.
At the end of the incident at the McDonald’s outlet, Arnett was relocated to the Warren County Detention Centre. He now faces multiple charges due to this incident. The charges directed at him include operating a motor vehicle while being under the influence of alcohol, with this being the third offense and thus regarded as an aggravating circumstance.
The list of charges does not end there. He is also accused of possessing an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, which is prohibited. Further charges include second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and third-degree terroristic threatening due to his abusive and threatening behaviour post-arrest.
