BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — As the holiday season approaches, the Warren County Public Library is excited to announce the return of its annual “Light Up the Capitol” fundraiser. This popular event is designed to support improvement projects for the historic theater located in downtown Bowling Green. The campaign kicks off on Friday, November 1, and culminates with a grand lighting ceremony as part of the downtown BGKY Lights Up celebrations on Friday, December 6.
According to a recent release from the library, this fundraiser plays a critical role in maintaining the Capitol as a cherished part of the Bowling Green community. Over the last several holiday seasons, generous donations have helped to make the “Light Up The Capitol” event a success, enabling important upgrades to the historic venue. The library is again inviting the community to pitch in and help with this year’s initiatives.
This year, the fundraiser invites community members to sponsor red and green bulbs that will shine under the theater’s marquee. These lights will be illuminated during the festive celebration in December. There are several levels for bulb sponsorship, offering flexible donation options for everyone willing to contribute.
The funds raised will be directed towards various building improvement projects, including essential work like floor resurfacing and exterior repainting under the marquee. The library emphasizes that every contribution helps in keeping the theater in top shape for future generations to enjoy.
This year brings an exciting new feature to the fundraiser: the “add a snowflake” option. This lower-cost donation opportunity allows patrons to give $5 for a personalized snowflake that will be hung in the theater lobby. This option makes it even easier for everyone in the community to participate in this joyful initiative.
“Light Up the Capitol” has become a beloved tradition in Bowling Green, bringing together residents in the spirit of giving and community support. The annual lighting event not only celebrates the holiday season but also serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving local history and culture.
The library encourages everyone to participate in this wonderful initiative, as every sponsorship and every snowflake adds to the community’s festive spirit. With the holiday season nearing, the excitement continues to build, and the library looks forward to shining a light on the warm-hearted contributions from the Bowling Green community.
Mark your calendars for December 6 and join your friends and neighbors in celebrating the beautiful lighting of the Capitol. Together, let’s make this year’s “Light Up the Capitol” event a spectacular success that honors the historic venue while making it even better for the community.
