Bowling Green is buzzing with excitement as the community prepares for one of the most anticipated events of the year – Light Up BGKY! This festive celebration is set to take place from December 2nd to 8th, promising a week filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of holiday spirit. The Downtown Development Coordinator, Telia Butler, recently joined Ashlee Wilson to unveil the details of this year’s celebrations, and let’s just say, there’s a lot packed into this week!
The festivities will kick off with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Bowling Green Chamber at Lost River Cave on December 2nd at 4:00 P.M.. Be sure to come early, as this event will feature the iconic waterwheel landmark lighting up the evening sky. But that’s not all – hot chocolate will be on hand to warm you up, and an open house at the local gift shop will give you the perfect opportunity to snag some unique holiday gifts. Plus, the Christmas tree lot will be open on site for those looking to find their perfect tree!
On December 3rd at 6:00 P.M., join the community at the Hospitality House for a special event themed “Make the Season Bright.” This heartwarming occasion lets you honor a loved one while also making a positive impact in our community. It’s a wonderful chance to come together and spread some love during this festive season.
Don’t miss out on the Christmas Holiday Market on December 4th. From 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., you can shop ’til you drop at the Riverview at Hobson Grove! This market will feature plenty of local vendors showcasing their crafts, gifts, and treats. It’s a fantastic way to support local businesses while finding something special for everyone on your holiday shopping list.
On December 5th, the festivities continue with a special event at the SoKy Ice Rink, where families can enjoy a free Storytime at the Snowdome. This event is a great way to take a breather from the holiday hustle and spend some quality time with the little ones. Bring your blankets and prepare for a cozy time filled with enchanting stories!
As the week rolls on, on December 6th, you’re invited to a Holiday Open House at the Warren County Courthouse from 2:00-4:00 P.M.. In addition, Christmas on College St. will be happening at City Hall from 3:30 to 5:00 P.M., where you can meet local officials and enjoy the holiday decorations in person.
The grand finale awaits on the evening of December 6th. Make your way to Fountain Row as the Downtown BGKY lights up for the holiday season! The main tree lighting will take place at 5:30 P.M., followed by the square lighting at 6:00 P.M.. This magical moment is sure to be a treat for all ages, and a perfect way to usher in the holiday season together!
So, mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and get ready to embrace the holiday spirit at this year’s Light Up BGKY. It’s bound to be a week to remember, full of joyous moments and community connection!
