Lady Marshals Achieve Dual Victory in Bowling Green Softball Challenge

May 16, 2024, Bowling Green – In a powerful display of prowess on the pitch this past weekend, Marshall County’s esteemed Lady Marshals scored a dual victory in the “Best of the West” softball tournament held at Buchanon Park, Bowling Green. With a phenomenal batting performance, the team vanquished both Apollo, 9-4, and Franklin-Simpson, achieving an identical 9-4 win.

Formidable Performance Against Apollo

The Lady Marshals were nothing short of spectacular in their game against Apollo. One of the standout players, Allicen Harris, showcased her exceptional capacity as she slammed a home run and contributed an RBI to secure the victory for her team. Addey Poole, Madyson Morton, and Chevelle Henson were not far behind, each hitting a triple during the match. Poole contributed an RBI, while Morton added two RBIs to her name in a striking performance.

Adding to the list of performers, Merriel Jackson showed her class with a double, driving two runs in to further cement their position. Set against the well-matched Apollo team, who managed nine hits against the ten hits pulled off by Marshall County, the Lady Marshals also skillfully incorporated speed into their strategy, successfully stealing three bases during the game.

Conquering Franklin-Simpson

Next, standing face to face with Franklin-Simpson, Marshall county’s Lady Marshals once again brought out the big bats. Chevelle Henson outdid her fantastic performance in the previous game, hitting a triple and a double in this match while driving in three runs. Merriel Jackson continued to display her consistent form by adding a triple and a double to her tally, driving in one run this time.

Once again demonstrating exemplary teamwork, the Lady Marshals managed to make 10 hits in this game, matching Franklin-Simpson’s score. Speed remained an integral aspect of their strategy, evident as they comfortably stole five bases in this game.
