Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Car Accident on Louisville Road
In the late hours of this past Thursday, a tragic event swept over the local community of Bowling Green, Kentucky when a fatal automobile accident occurred on Louisville Road. This devastating incident took place at approximately 9:00 pm.
Word quickly spread about the unfolding situation. The Kentucky State Police Post 03 Bowling Green got a phone call from the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office. They were alerted about a single vehicle accident which soon proved to be fatal.
The Unfortunate Chain of Events
Immediately upon receiving the alert, troopers made their way to the troubling scene on Louisville Road. An initial look at the circumstances showed us that a white 2017 Lexus was involved in the incident.
The car, which was being driven by Melissa Sargent, a 38-year-old woman from Charleston, South Carolina, was traveling in a southerly direction on Louisville Road. Tragically, for reasons not clear at the time, her vehicle crossed over to the opposite lane before veering off the road. This led to the vehicle flipping over.
Even more devastating is that Sargent was ejected from her vehicle during the process, and she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The confirmation of her death was made by the Edmonson County Coroner’s Office.
The Investigation Moves Forward
In such heartbreaking circumstances, the duty has fallen to Trooper Landon Key from the Kentucky State Police to take the lead in this investigation. Other members of the force, along with those from the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office and the Edmonson County Coroner’s Office, are also assisting him.
