That’s not all; just days later, on September 13, Adair County High School found itself in a bit of a predicament when it went into full lockdown due to a tip about a student possibly having a gun. Thankfully, after careful investigation, this turned out to be a false alarm, transitioning the school to a soft lockdown for the remainder of the day.

Other Schools Feeling the Pressure

In the wake of events at Adair County, nearby Allen County Schools also reported a threat on September 13. Fortunately, local law enforcement quickly investigated the matter, finding the individual responsible, and students were encouraged to proceed with their school day as planned.

Barren County Schools faced a brief lockdown that same Wednesday, initially triggered by a report of students dressed in camouflage. It turned out to be simply a part of “Camouflage Day,” a fun homecoming event that took an unexpected twist.

Meanwhile, Hopkinsville High School and others were placed on alert and lockdown just a few days earlier, on September 10, after a suspicious phone call, but this too was ultimately deemed non-credible.

Rising School Safety Concerns

The Glasgow Police Department is working in tandem with Glasgow Independent Schools to address persistent concerns stemming from social media threats, with none yet confirmed as credible. A Snapchat alert against Grayson County High School has raised eyebrows, leading authorities to delve into its origins.

In Green County, a 14-year-old has been arrested for making threats against Green County Middle School, resulting in similar charges of second-degree terroristic threatening. Further afield, the Hart County Sheriff’s Department noted that a Snapchat threat originating from out of the county posed no current risk to Hart County Schools.

In light of these developments, Metcalfe County Schools have decided to increase police presence across campuses, even though they have not received any threats. As of September 13, Moss Middle School in Bowling Green also went into lockdown due to a potential threat but, just like others, was later confirmed to be safe.

Authorities are emphasizing the seriousness of these threats, labeling them first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class C felony that could result in 5 to 10 years behind bars for offenders.
