Bowling Green, Ky.– The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 has released an impact report detailing several road projects and their expected traffic effects. Spanning from June 28 through July 5, these roadworks and refurbishments will cause certain interruptions in various counties as ongoing improvements continue to shape Kentucky’s highway infrastructure.
A refurbishment project focused on Interstate 165 in Butler County is active, with crews working on milling and resurfacing the roadway from mile point 26.4 to mile point 32.8 in both directions. Motorists are alerted to anticipate lane closures in this area. Additionally, reduced speed limits of 55 mph are in effect as workers operate near the roadway. The estimated completion date for this project is November 1.
In Allen County, the bridge on Old Buck Creek Road crossing Buck Creek (mile point 2.1) is currently closed due to a bridge replacement project. An alternate route is strongly suggested for motorists. The replacement bridge is projected to be operational by early August.
Motorists in Barren County should be prepared for potential delays on KY 3600 Veteran’s Outer Loop (mile point 0.0 to 2.5) where a resurfacing project from KY 1297 to U.S. 68 is in progress. Anticipated lane closures and potential delays will continue while paving is underway.
Edmonson County has a resurfacing project that spans KY 70 from the Butler County line to KY 259 (mile point 0.0 to 9.9). Motorists should anticipate lane closures and possible delays during the pavement exercise.
Various road improvement projects in Logan County – including shoulder enhancements, bridge deck restoration, and drainage increment projects – will likely cause reductions in road lanes. Motorists traversing KY 103, U.S. 431, U.S. 79, and U.S. 68 should expect reduced lane availability and possible adjustments in traffic patterns, including the use of temporary signals and flagged traffic directions.
In Warren County, extensive work on the U.S. 31-W RCUT continues, with motorists already encountering lane closures between Lauren Avery Drive (mile point 19) and KY 526/ Olive Road (mile point 20.4). The construction endeavors, which include a new Restricted Crossing U-Turn to cater to the Bristow Elementary School and nearby neighbourhoods, are scheduled to be near completion by the start of the school year in early August.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet appreciates motorists’ patience, understanding, and observance of traffic signs, signals, and reduced speed limits in construction zones during this period of improvement.
