Cody Snider Faces Multiple Charges After Tuesday’s Incident
Details of the Assault
In Franklin, Kentucky, a man was accused of assaulting a woman while she drove along Interstate 65. Authorities identified the suspect as 26-year-old Cody Snider. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, with the Simpson County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a distress call about a man physically assaulting a woman in a silver Toyota Camry.
The caller informed the authorities that the attack was serious enough to disrupt the car’s movement on the road, causing it to swerve in and out of lanes, and almost leading to a collision with a semi-truck trailer. The caller detailed that Snider was choking the woman, hitting her face repeatedly.
The vehicle moved off the freeway at exit 6, where deputies noticed Snider yelling at the woman from the passenger seat. Evidently ready to escalate the assault, he lifted his fist but halted upon seeing the deputy’s presence.
Victim’s Condition and Accusations
The woman was palpably distraught when law enforcement arrived on the scene. She was crying, with visible signs of violence including red marks on her face, dried blood around her nose and eyes, and red finger marks around her throat. Further examinations revealed a bite mark on her shoulder and a burn mark in her ear purportedly from a cigarette.
According to the victim, Snider had been aggressive towards her throughout the day, with the assault intensifying after she missed an exit. She also stated that they used synthetic marijuana, although she did not intake any that day.
Suspect’s Background and Charges
Upon arrest, evidence of Snider’s criminal background came to light. He was currently serving probation and had previous domestic violence charges. Authorities found a straw with traces of suspected heroin in a bag in the rear of the car.
Snider faces multiple charges including first-degree assault (domestic violence), first-degree strangulation, first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, buying or possessing drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, menacing, and failure to wear a seatbelt. Currently, he is in the Simpson County jail with a $50,000 cash bond. His court hearing is scheduled for June 18 at 2 p.m.
