New K9 Officers Ready To Serve and Protect in Southcentral Kentucky

SOUTHCENTRAL, KY – Introducing Niko and Bronzon: K9 Crime Fighters

In the heart of Southcentral, Kentucky, local police departments are embracing a four-legged change. The Glasgow and Bowling Green Police Departments have introduced two new K9 officers, Niko and Bronzon. Trained as dual-purpose K9s, they are eager and ready to serve the community.

These distinguished canines are more than just dogs; they are police officers, trained to ensure public safety and assist their human partners in critical operations.

K9’s Induction: A Significant Start

Officer Johnathan Pendley from the Glasgow Police Department shared that the significant change did not start with their induction into the team, but rather with the bond formed through rigorous training with their human counterparts.

“The transition period was definitely different for me personally because of the fact that I went from just responding to calls and just doing my thing…to where now I have to be able to make sure he stays up on his training and I stay up my training with him,” commented Officer Pendley.

A Bond Formed Through Rigorous Training

Training intensively, the K9s and their handlers experienced hours of practice together, strengthening their relationship and honing their skills. The end of training, however, did not mark the end of their learning journey.

Officer Philmon Carpenter, Master Police, and K9 Officer explained, “It’s a constant learning process. So because he’s dual purpose, I have to do 8 hours of training every month for the drug work, and I have to do 8 hours of training every month for the bite work in the apprehension.”

Show Love to The New Guardians

The local police departments encourage community members to extend their friendly greetings to these new officers when they see them patrolling the area. They may have a tough job, but they are part of the community just like any other officer.

In this new season of law enforcement in Southcentral, Kentucky, Niko and Bronzon are ready to serve their duty and protect the community, and the community seems ready to welcome them.
