In the heart of Bowling Green, a delightful couple is on a mission to get everyone leaping with joy! Meet Kaylee and Nick Woodard, the dynamic duo behind the nonprofit organization Learnin’ The Ropes. Their passion for the sport of jump rope is sparking an uplifting trend that is spreading like wildfire across the nation.
“We started Learnin’ The Ropes with the intent to get the community jumping,” says Kaylee. Having grown up in the world of jump rope, they were determined to turn their enthusiasm into something bigger. “We didn’t want to stop at just one team; we wanted to get the entire community jumping!” And jump they have! Their program has swiftly grown to engage children of all ages, with plenty of activities lined up!
Currently, Learnin’ The Ropes runs programs in three local elementary schools, where eager students dive into the fantastic world of jump rope every week. “The kids are learning all components of jump rope,” Woodard shares excitedly. “We always do single rope, but we sprinkle in other fun elements like partner jumping, long rope, and even a taste of double dutch!” The variety keeps the kids engaged and helps them appreciate everything jump rope has to offer.
Kaylee and Nick have built a fantastic team of dedicated instructors, including enthusiastic college students from Western Kentucky University alongside professional educators. This collaborative effort ensures that children learn not just the basics of jump rope but also develop a lifelong commitment to fitness.
But they are not just about classroom activities! Learnin’ The Ropes takes the excitement on the road, performing at schools and halftime shows across America. Imagine watching thrilling *jump rope performances* at NBA games or during college events! They have even made their mark at multiple Olympic Games, blending motivational speaking with awe-inspiring athletic demonstrations. “We love to perform and are looking to do even more in the future!” Kaylee adds with enthusiasm.
Mark your calendars! The second annual Bowling Green Jump Day is just around the corner! Set for Saturday, November 23, at Phil Moore Park, this thrilling event will be a *jump rope extravaganza*. For three whole hours, participants can enjoy jump rope activities, showcase their skills in a performance, and enter contests to try their hand at achieving the highest jump count. Plus, there’s a fun twist — attendees can make their very own ropes to take home!
“It is an exciting day, and we can’t wait to see everyone come out and jump with us!” Kaylee says. Want to find out more about Learnin’ The Ropes? Looking to bring the joy of jump rope to your school? Don’t hesitate to check out their website for more information!
