In Bowling Green, Kentucky, seasoned broadcaster and media professional Jordan Basham has taken up the mantle of Interim Executive Director of WKU Public Media, which includes both WKU Public Radio and WKU PBS. Basham is stepping in following the retirement of previous director David Brinkley and will hold the position until a permanent replacement is announced.
Basham has been an integral part of WKU’s Public Media Services for close to 24 years. He boasts an impressive history in a variety of roles such as Director of Content, Director of Public Media Services, Television Production Manager, Broadcast Engineer, and Sports Producer.
In his response to his appointment, Basham expressed his excitement and gratitude. “WKU has provided me with continuous opportunities for professional growth. I am excited to take on this role and work in new ways to sustain and grow the services we provide,” said Basham.
During his tenure, Basham will be responsible for supervising the operations of both WKU Public Radio and WKU PBS. These platforms serve Bowling Green, Somerset, Owensboro, and Elizabethtown, offering a combination of award-winning local and national programming.
Together with his dedicated team, Basham is committed to conducting his role with a focus on enhancing the quality of life in the region by offering diverse and exceptional programming. He will continue working towards providing the community with a wealth of ideas, inspiration, and vital information daily.
Jordan Basham is no stranger to accolades and recognition in the field of public media. His extensive career includes numerous awards, such as the Ohio Valley Emmy Award, and being a member of the National Educational Telecommunications Association’s Board of Directors. Moreover, he was elected to the WKU Staff Senate and served as co-chair of the Budget Executive Committee at WKU, indicating his leadership prowess.
Going forward, Basham is expected to further contribute to WKU Public Media’s success in having a clear mission and a focus on high-quality programming. With his leadership, WKU Public Media will continue to provide an important service for the regional community – bringing world-class arts and entertainment programs, as well as national, international, and local journalism.
