The Hot Rods used this impressive aggressive base running to ignite their offense, propelling them to a resounding 6-1 victory over their opposition. With season-opening jitters seemingly non-existent, they showcased their prowess on both sides of the game: pitching and fielding, rakishly taking in base after base.

The Hot Rods set the tone early. In the bottom of the first, lead-off hitter Chandler Simpson walked before promptly stealing second base. Following this stellar start, Xavier Isaac singled home Simpson for the first run of the game. The hits kept coming as Cooper Kinney doubled, scoring Isaac to extend the lead to 2-0. The offensive explosion continued when Kinney himself was brought home on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Haas, bringing the score to 3-0. Brock Jones worked a walk and swiped second before being driven in by Tatem Levins, pushing the Hot Rods’ lead to 4-0 by the end of the first inning.
The Renegades attempted a comeback in the second inning as Jesus Rodriguez homered, cutting down The Hot Rods’ lead to 4-1. Unfortunately for the Renegades, this would be their only run of the game.
Record-breaking Steals Contribute to Dominant Victory
The dominance of the Hot Rods continued through later innings as well. In the sixth, after reaching on a fielder’s choice, Blake Robertson stole a base. Following his example, Simpson and Brayden Taylor walked, loading the bases. Their aggressive base-running stirred action once again, with Xavier Isaac boosting the score to 6-1 after smashing a base hit.
Stellar Pitching Performance
Bowling Green’s contestants in this game, Trevor Martin and reliever, Kyle Whitten contributed heavily to this victory with their standout performances. Starting pitcher Martin, also playing from the Hot Rods, allowed only one run, five hits and struck out a remarkable nine batters over five innings. Whitten continued the dominance in the ninth, closing out the game with a clean frame.
