UPDATE: Golden Alert for Warren County Resident Canceled

WARREN COUNTY, KY – The previously issued Golden Alert for Robert Gover Jr., a resident of Warren County, was officially cancelled on Thursday night. The 68-year-old man, also known as Bobby, experienced a cognitive decline akin to Alzheimer’s/dementia, leading to concerns for his safety when he went missing on Thursday afternoon.

Gover’s Disappearance

Gover was last seen on Thursday afternoon, leading to the issue of a Golden Alert by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office later that evening. These alerts are issued in cases of missing adults with mental or cognitive disabilities who are in imminent danger or physical threat.

The Golden Alert

The Golden Alert, analogous to the Amber and Silver alerts familiar to many Americans, are issued to engage members of the public in the search for missing adults who are experiencing cognitive decline or mental health issues. The alert comes out of deep concern that the individual’s health and welfare may be endangered.

Efforts to Locate Gover

Upon Gover’s disappearance, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office initiated an extensive search with the help of members of the public who responded to their call to action. The urgency of the information from the Sheriff’s Office was met with robust public response to assist in the search.

Gover Found Safe

As of 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office announced that Gover had been found and confirmed that he was safe. The cancellation of the Golden Alert was thus announced to the public. As relief washed over all those involved in the search, the Sheriff’s office did not release any additional details relating to his recovery.

A Reminder for Public Vigilance

Gover’s case was reminiscent of the ongoing challenges that families and law enforcement face when a family member with cognitive impairment goes missing. It serves to remind the public to always remain vigilant, especially when Golden, Amber, or Silver alerts are issued by the authorities.
