Two New Spaces at SKyPAC named after Generous $150k Donations

In an exciting turn of events, the Arts of Southern Kentucky have received two substantial charity donations amounting to a total of $150,000. As a token of appreciation, two important spaces in the SKyPAC have been named after the designated cause brought forward by the donors.

The Donors and Their Causes

A $100,000 donation was made by Mary E. Vitale while the remaining $50,000 was anonymously donated. Mary, with her strong and personal ties to the autism community, realizes the importance of providing quiet areas for families during various SKyPAC events. This perspective led to Rehearsal Hall 2 in the Renshaw Education Center being named the “Sensory Friendly Space, dedicated by Mary E. Vitale.

The anonymous donor decided to dedicate the funds “In Honor of America’s Veterans”. As a result, the Box Seating House Left in the Rita & Scott Concert Hall will bear this new title. This contribution underlines the importance of paying recognition and respect to all the veterans who’ve served to ensure the freedoms of their fellow countrymen.

The Impact on SKyPAC and the Community

The new Sensory Friendly Space is considered a crucial addition to the SKyPAC. This area will serve as a calming environment for those with autism, giving them, and their caretakers, a peaceful area during public events. Comforting items such as bean bag chairs, gel floor tiles, fidgets, weighted vests, and earmuffs will be provided.

The newly named area “In Honor of America’s Veterans” will stand as a permanent symbol of gratitude and respect towards all serving veterans. This act of recognition aims to bring the sacrifices of these brave individuals to prominence in the minds of all who visit this space.

Appreciating the Gesture

Expressing his gratitude, Jeff Reed, the president and CEO of the Arts of Southern Kentucky, said, “The signage recognizing their gifts will be a permanent testimony to the lives they’ve changed through their generosity.”

Additional Opportunities for Community Support

Despite these significant contributions, the Arts of Southern Kentucky continues to accept community donations. The non-profit organization states that it is their loyal patrons and donors that help sustain their work.

Moreover, for those looking to make a substantial impact, there are remaining naming opportunities within the SKyPAC building. For more information on supporting the arts in Southern Kentucky, please visit theskypac.com/contribute for more details.
