Planning for Future Innovation at WKU Innovation Campus
The Civic Imagination Living Lab at the Western Kentucky University (WKU) Innovation Campus is up and running, offering citizens of Bowling Green and Warren County a chance to contribute to the shaping of their city’s future.
Community Engagement for Collective Progress
Having drawn inspiration from the futuristic initiative, BG 2050, WKU is organizing a community outreach event on this Thursday and Friday. The event encourages citizens to share their envisioning of Bowling Green’s future.The brainchild of this event, dubbed as the Civic Imagination Living Lab, is aimed at fostering open innovation and collective brainstorming.
Equating Bowling Green to “North Nashville”, Buddy Steen, the CEO of the Innovation Campus, signaled the fast-paced economic development in the south, that in his words is “an economic supernova like no one’s anticipated.” Steen underlined the need for change and expressed his desire that it should happen for Bowling Green, and not to it.
A Think-Tank for Change
The Living Lab is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days to accommodate maximum participation. It will be an open forum where everyone has a say and can contribute to the city’s progress.
Involving a dynamic interplay between locals and global experts, this Lab will be buzzing with ideas. An array of experts from different parts of the world will virtually Zoom into the Lab to contribute their insights. In addition, local officials will also be in attendance to lend their perspective and participate in the collective brainstorming.
