Once again, the city of Bowling Green played host to an extravagant event aimed at a noble cause. The Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society organized the Annual Fur Ball, a gala of fun and fundraising, which took place at the Sloan Convention Center this past Saturday. As noted by the attendees, this year’s Fur Ball was a grand affair with over 700 tickets sold out even before they officially went on sale.
The evening was filled with food, drinks, live music and auctions, all aimed at mobilizing funds for the humane society and their tireless work. Lorri Hare, the Director of the Humane Society, emphasized on the significance of the event saying, “This is extremely important. That building is run solely on donations and I really don’t believe we could keep those doors open without this event.” With the funds raised from the Annual Fur Ball, the Humane Society ensures the safety and welfare of many animals, ultimately saving thousands of lives.
The Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society has been grappling with multiple ‘code red’ situations over the past year due to high intakes. This amplifies the importance of fundraisers like the Fur Ball, especially at a time when the humane society is relying heavily on donations to keep its doors open. Hare remained hopeful that this year’s Fur Ball would set a new record in terms of funds raised.
Even though the annual fur ball event has ended, there are still opportunities to contribute. For those who missed out on the event, Hare emphasized, they could still do their part towards this bonafide cause through adoption or donations.
With the smashing success of this year’s annual Fur Ball, hopes are high for the future of Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society. Not only does the Fur Ball provide a fantastic night of entertainment and camaraderie, but it also acts as a lifeboat for the many animals under the care of the Humane Society.
As the city of Bowling Green continues to rally around the cause, future editions of the Fur Ball promise to be even more exciting, larger in scope and, hopefully, grander in its impact.
