Health Education and Promotion of the local university, keen on promoting better health awareness among students, have planned to conduct free HIV and AIDS testing on April 10 as part of HIV & AIDS Awareness Day. Testing services will be provided from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. by healthcare providers from Matthew 25 and the Barren River District Health Department.
Students looking to avail themselves of these services can report to the Health Services Building, Suite 1064. The entrance to the building is accessible from the side that faces Peace Ford Tower and the First Year Village, ensuring easy access and clear directions for all.
Aside from serving as an invaluable resource for diagnosing potential infection, this initiative presents an opportunity for students to gain WellU Credit. The accumulation of these credits moves students closer to receiving scholarship money, thus celebrating and rewarding their proactive approach to health and well-being.
Early detection is a powerful tool in the fight against HIV and AIDS. Testing not only reduces the chances of transmitting the virus to others, but it also eases stress and anxiety for those worried about potential exposure. Early diagnosis allows for faster medical treatment if necessary and represents a crucial step towards combating the spread of these conditions.
The testing process is fast, with rapid tests displaying results within one minute. Importantly, all results will be treated confidentially, ensuring the privacy and dignity of all individuals involved.
If students are unsure if they should get tested, they can independently assess their risk by taking the HIV Risk Assessment online.
Interested students can sign up for the testing on the Health Education and Promotion website.
